The authors discussed their study in which they administered the Narcissmus Inventory (Denecke & Hilgenstock, 1989) to 100 patients who had attempted suicide. Results from the Inventory, supplemented by evaluations from clinical interviews, were found to correlate with motivations for the subjects suicide attempts.
