The relationship between adolescent’s self-assessments of their risk of repetition & a range of psychological risk factors for suicidal behaviour was investigated in a sample of 1813 Australian students. 111 reported a previous attempt; of these, 27% rated themselves as likely or very likely to repeat their attempt. These self-assessments were significantly related to the recency of the previous attempt & self-reported hopelessness, delinquency & family dysfunction.
