This paper illustrates the use of focus groups to enhance knowledge of ways to address youth suicide. 140 New Zealand youth (age 16-24) took part in 12 focus groups. They examined issues such as the pressures faced by young people, is suicide an issue for young people, barriers to utilizing existing services/resources & potential suicide prevention strategies. The findings are discussed in terms of what they mean for the planning of future health promotion strategies. (17 refs.)
