How levels of various chemicals in suicidal patients differ from those of non-suicidal people is discussed. There are detailed references to 5-HIAA, serotonin, adrenaline, monamines, glucocorticoids, the immune system & cholesterol and their effects on suicidal behavior are explained. A better understanding of biological changes in suicidal people will help one to better treat it. (47 refs.)
