A comprehensive study of suicide attempts in Ankara, Turkey was done in 1990. The present study replicated the research from 1990 & compared the results of 1990 & 1995. The attempted suicide rate for 1995 was 113/100,000 population, up from 107/100,000 in 1990. In both years females accounted for most attempts. In 1995, 15-24-year-olds made 65.7% of all attempts, an increase of almost 10% from 1990. Drug overdoses remained the most common method but an increase in firearm attempts was noted.
