In this chapter, the historical & cultural context of suicide among Canadian Inuits is discussed. There is comparison of Inuit suicide rates with the national rate, and detail on how outsiders’ influence on Inuit culture may have contributed to their present suicide rate. True stories from Inuits such as elder & MP Jack Anawak express Inuit concerns and experiences with suicide.
