This article is a reprint of some correspondence between Drs. Norman Farberow & Karl Menninger. The letters date from 1954. Farberow describes the research that he & Shneidman had been doing with suicide notes & he asks Menninger to comment on their procedures & their interpretation of Menninger’s theory. Menninger’s reply to Farberow’s letter follows.
