Homicide-suicide cases were ascertained in 4 medical examiner districts covering 7 Florida counties from 1988-1994. Annual homicide-suicide rates per 100,000 population & homicide-suicides as a percentage of total homicides & total suicides separately were calculated by age group & Florida region. Annual incidence rates ranged from 0.3-0.7/100,000 for persons under age 55 & from 0.4-0.9/100,000 for persons age 55+. Cases of spousal/consortial homicide-suicide were the most common. (30 refs.)
