The authors set out a slightly modified version of O’Carroll’s table in which he outlines the Superset/Subset Relationships of the proposed nomenclature for suicide-related behaviors. He criticizes the definition & placement of “Suicide Threat” under Instrumental Behaviors & suggests that a new superset category which covers “threats” involving no suicidal intent & those involving at least some degree of intent is needed. He calls this new category “Suicide-Related Communications.” (3 ref.)
