The Irish Association of Suicidology (IAS) was formed in 1996 as an umbrella organization to provide a forum for diverse groups involved in work on suicide. Their aims & objectives are stated. Suicide prevention, legal aspects of suicide, the work of the Samaritans, the role of the police, ethical & philosophical issues, & a code of practice for media reporting of suicide are all issues addressed at their first public meeting.
