Abstract
Correlates of Suicidal Behavior in a Juvenile Detention Population
Rohde P~~Seeley J R~~et al
This study identifies the correlates of current suicide ideation & past suicide attempts among 555 adolescents in a juvenile detention centre. Suicidal behavior in boys was associated with depression & social isolation, whereas suicidal behaviour in girls was associated with impulsivity & instability. Past attempts were associated with ideation & ineffective coping for males, with major life events & impulsivity for females. Not residing with a parent prior to detention was a factor for both.
