This book examines the following topics: the phases of disaster & basic principles of helping; attachment theory; age-related reactions of children to disasters; helping the child & family; & the role of the mental health professionals. A selected bibliography is provided as is a short list of helping agencies. Appendices provide examples of brochures and 2 colouring books which can be used with children who have been traumatized by flooding or tornadoes.
