In this study 80% of the suicides were males & 67% of the suicides were among whites. Blacks made up 12%, & Hispanics 18%, of the suicides. More than 44% of suicide completers had been suspended from school, compared to 22% of the controls. The most common diagnosis for males was substance or alcohol abuse at 40%, followed by disruptive disorder at 39%. The most common diagnosis for females was any anxiety disorder at 35%, followed by disruptive & mood disorders, each at 30%.
