The suicide rate in young men has been rising in the U.K. This study re-examined GP attendance by young suicides (124), related the gender difference in rates of suicide by young people to contact their GPs, and examined the GP records of young suicides to evaluate risk assessment and treatment. Male suicides were no less likely than females, to consult a GP in the month or 3 months before suicide.
