In this article the relationship between personality disorders & suicide were examined among the Atayal, Ami & the Han Chinese in East Taiwan. Findings strongly indicate that the main categories of psychiatric disorders leading to suicide are essentially the same in both the East & the West. They are severe depression, substance dependence & personality disorders characterized by impulsivity. States that early detection & treatment of mental disorders is fundamental to suicide prevention.
