This study surveyed a range of treatment needs of Australian women with alcohol and other drug use related problems. Almost 3/4 (72%) of the sample had experienced physical or sexual violence in their lives. Thirty-seven percent had been sexually abused under 16 years of age. Women who had experienced child sexual assault were significantly more likely to have attempted suicide (95%). They were also more likely to have experienced recent psychological distress.
