A group of 3124 female students in grade 8 & 10 were studied. Sexually abused adolescents were likely to have felt depressed frequently during the past month, & they were more likely to report suicidal ideation. If the adolescent acknowledges frequent depression or suicidal thoughts, additional questions may focus on assessing assault or physical abuse & a history of sexual abuse.
