One hundred & seven hospitalized female patients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder are the subjects of this study. Three factors were related to frequency of hospitalization – anorexia, psychotic symptoms, and suicidality. Depression did not emerge as a significant predictor. Increased expenditure of outpatient resources may previent hospitalization when these conditions are present.
