This study examines the attitudes towards suicidal patients of a group of psychiatric nursing personnel. Findings indicate that women tended to be more sympathetic than men & older personnel were more favourably disposed than younger nurses. Differences were found between personnel working in different settings, which might be explained by the frequency of contact with suicidal patients. More frequent exposure was associated with more positive attitudes.
