The death rate for employed and unemployed were analyzed separately for the periods 1970-1975, and 1975-1980. The suicide rate for unemployed men and women from 1970-75 was 2.92, and from 1975-80 was 2.13. The relative mortality due to deaths from all causes were also smaller in the second period. Data is not available on suicide in employed men and women in this timeframe.
