This study examines the use of the drug fluoxetine-a commonly used psychoactive medication used to treat severe mood disorders. There have been reports that fluoxetine aggravates suicidal ideation in patients, however, results from examining 654 patients using the medication show that this is not the case. Doctors have concluded that a worsening in suicidal behaviours/ideation is a result of overprescribing psyschoactive drugs and there is no concrete evidence supporting the aggravation theory.
