The patient in this report had no previous mental difficulties, she was in hospital from Aug.25 to Sept. 23, 1950, where she received a total of 2,625 gm. of cortisone for arthritis. Her family physician was to administer 100 mg. of cortisone biweekly. She was nervous, restless and sleeping poorly, and one day her family returned home to find her hysterical, she was sedated, and while her daughter was dressing, the patient cut her throat and died in 5 minutes.
