This article reviews some of the major health issues facing adolescents in the UK including injuries, mental health/suicide, sexual behaviours, smoking, & drug & alcohol use. The need for effective interventions is discussed in terms of what is trying to be achieved, what interventions are effective, & who is most likely to be successful in carrying out interventions. The article concludes with a list of what the evidence seems to indicate are effective interventions. (19 refs.)
