This paper compares the English legal treatment of suicide in England & Wales with that of other western countries. Discusses coronorship which was developed due to anti-suicide legislation, & the biases that have resulted. The position of the Church of England is discussed. The severe stigma attached to suicide explains the present legal treatment of issues such as euthanasia in England & Wales.
