These proceedings propose an expanded typology of suicide, assisted suicide, & euthanasia in doctor-patient relations. Three dimensions of this typology are distinguished in the proceedings: the active-passive nature of the act, the degree of doctor involvement, & the degree of influence of patient wishes. The article examines the various types of euthanasia: active voluntary, passive voluntary, active involuntary, & passive involuntary. The proceedings also analyze actual examples of assisted suicide & euthanasia which have appeared in court cases or medical literature. (AK)
