This paper describes the development & usefulness of a college student version of the Reasons for Living Inventory (CSRLI). A 46 item instrument was developed with 6 factors (survival/coping beliefs, college/future related concerns, moral objections, responsibility to friends/family, fear of suicide/social disapproval). The CSRLI can be used as an indicator of suicide risk, to identify themes most important to the student contemplating suicide, & to provide focus for counselors aiding students.
