This presentation reports on use of the psychological autopsy method to construct a psychological picture of the deceased adolescent prior to death. It uses an unstructured, free-flowing dialogue portion and a structured, symptom-oriented portion. Six key elements are noted that allow parents, sibling, & friends to tell their story of the deceased and provide best quality data. The benefit of this type of research for those undertaking the work is also discussed.
