This presentation reports on interviews with 15 parents (5 men & 10 women) who had lost a child at least 4 years prior. Causes of death included accidents, heart disease, cancer, suicide, SIDS, & birth defects. It discusses feelings, the grieving and healing process, & gender differences. It notes that 75% of those interviewed are now helping others who are experiencing similar losses – not in an effort to fill their emptiness but as a means to integrate their experience in a different way.
