Morgan expresses his position on clinical guidelines with regards to suicide prevention. He emphasizes the fact that guidelines should not be mandatory and that other techniques can be more effective. Educational programs for healthcare workers should occur throughout their professinal lives. Necessary components of clinical practice in suicide prevention are listed (e.g. sound interview techniques). There is a need to rekindle people’s confidence in the daunting task of suicide prevention.
