This article discusses an ethical question for hotline agencies: whether an agency is obligated to report a caller’s crime to the police, & if one did, if this is a breach of confidentiality. For adjunct hotlines under supervision of physicians, etc., this is not as much of an issue. However, independent hotlines have different legal rights.
