Client Strengths and Crisis Intervention: a Solution-Focused Approach

Solution-focused therapy has not been systematically applied to dealing with crisis situations. This article discusses the relevance of solution-focused therapy to the strengths perspective & illustrates its use in crisis intervention. A 6-step model is described in detail. Examples include scenarios of domestic violence, harrassment, grief & loss, maintaining sobriety, suicidal ideation, & single parent issues. (37 refs.)
