Suicide rates in Sweden 1952-1992 were analyzed as a follow-up to the previously observed increasing rate in young men & to apply age-period-cohort (APC) analyzes to trends in suicide mortality. Data reported indicate the suicide rate for men (20-40 years old) has levelled off since the middle 1970s & in some age groups has reversed. The rate among men over 45 years old declined throughout the period. APC analyzes did not give clear evidence for a specific cohort or period effect. (24 Refs.)
