Fifty-eight consecutive suicides among those aged 15 to 29 years old were investigated by modified psychological autopsies & examined from the perspective of suicidal process (progression of suicidality within the individual & in interaction with other people). Previous attempts were evident in 66%. Other data & gender differences are discussed. The article concludes that focussing on the process heightens understanding of serious suicidal behaviour in young people. (39 Refs.)
