This study used an embedded-case design to provide depth & clarification to an understanding of professional crisis intervention counselling in selected hospital & community mental health settings. Data were analyzed by abstracting to identifying categories & themes. All subjects had academic backgrounds that emphasized traditional theoretical counselling orientations & they continued to conceptualize patients using these models. Suggested readings & recommendations for research are included.
