A survey of Survivors of Suicide centres was done to determine if bereaved African-Americans used this support system to any appreciable extent. It was found that they did not even, though efforts had been made to reach out to African-Americans & other minority groups. It is suggested that African-Americans instead may use informal, traditional supports such as family, friends & the church. However, the efficacy of these support systems may be questionable according to a female survivor.
