This article reports on some of the findings of the WHO/EURO multicentre study on parasuicide from the 5 Nordic centres. The parasuicide rates per 100,000 population were 222 for women, 213 for men, & 224 for both genders combined. In all the Nordic centres except Helsinki, women had higher parasuicide rates than men. The highest rates were in the 30-39 age group. Single people also were a high-risk group as were Finnish citizens in Sweden, compared with Finns from the Helsinki centre.
