Bill C-68 (Firearms Act) proposes to further control access to firearms in Canada. In this presentation made to the Standing Committe on Justice and Legal Affairs of the House of Commons, research on the effects of reducing the availability & lethality of means of suicide is reviewed. The Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention asked that the Committe take into account the fact that legislation which limits or delays access to firearms may save many lives each year. (15 refs.)
