In this chapter, Pace outlines a brief therapy for suicidal patients in native communities. The process includes: an assessment of current, past & familial suicidality; knowing when to get professional help; helping the person to find other ways to solve problems; identifying support systems; working as a team with the patient’s doctor &/or social worker; providing or suggesting ongoing therapy; follow-up care; & utilizing the person as a resource to help others in distress.
