43 high-risk youth with high suicide ideation who were also potential high school dropouts were compared to 43 high-risk youth & 42 “typical” youth without high suicide ideation. Compared to the other 2 groups, high-risk youth with high suicide ideation reported more psychosocial distress, problems with drug use & family problems. Discriminant analysis revealed that depression & low self-esteem were most effective in distinguishing between high-risk youth with & without suicide ideation.
