A survey was conducted of 47 suicides, 16 failed suicides, & 24 attempted suicides that occurred from Brisbane river bridges over 15 years. Compared to findings from other studies, bridge suicides & failed suicides had a much higher rate of schizophrenia with hallucinations often precipitating the jump. They also had extensive histories of self-harm. Those who attempted suicide had higher rates of personality disorders & histories of self-harm which continued beyond the bridge incident.
