Data on the attitudes of Dutch general practitioners & nursing home physicians to voluntary active euthanasia & physician-assisted suicide were collected by means of an anonymous survey. Written responses to 6 statements about euthanasia & assisted suicide showed that a large majority of respondents had no fundamental objections to these practices. Respondents were more opposed if they had never performed euthanasia or assisted suicide, if they belonged to a religious group, or were older.
