Euthanasia in Canada is discussed, in light of the Sue Rodriguez case. Several questions are posed, e.g., “Why are we having the euthanasia debate only now when suffering has always been part of the human condition?” The author gives pros & cons for using a legal approach to euthanasia, as well as the effect that an emotional approach can have. The author also discusses the balance between individual & societal interests that takes place in this debate. Kind of language used must be considered.
