Data were collected to see whether the German Society for Humane Dying has had influence on suicide in Germany. The Society, formed in 1980, provides a book with advice on suicide using medications for members. The number of suicides by each method was obtained for each year from 1975 to 1990. Findings do not indicate that the Society has resulted in an increase in suicide by solid or liquids or suicide by all methods.
