23 years of suicide data from Austria, Hungary & Finland, covering the years 1970-1992, were analyzed. Comparison of age-standardized rates showed that Austria’s & Hungary’s suicide mortality among males peaked around 1980 & started to decline in the mid-1980s. In Finland rates for both males & females showed a constant increase over the same period. Factors that may impact suicide mortality are discussed. (5 refs.)
