This brief editorial reports on a detailed assessment of suicide prevention in the European community that was done by Befrienders International. Government policies & procedures, & services available for people in crisis are outlined. However, one drawback of the report is that it only covers telelphone helplines & agencies that provide emotional support for the suicidal. Psychological & psychiatric mental health services are not included.
