Chapter 1 of this edited book discusses the legal aspects of euthanasia in Canada, the USA & The Netherlands. Chapter 2 examines the Supreme Court ruling in the Sue Rodriguez case. In Chapter 3 it is argued that the concept of death with dignity needs to be rethought. Chapters 4 & 5 present the results of surveys of attitudes towards euthanasia among health care professionals & a small sample of elderly people. The last chapter discusses the challenge of pain control in the terminally ill.
