110 Vancouver street youth were surveyed in November & December of 1993 on numerous aspects of physical & mental health. It was found that 51% of the survey respondents had considered suicide at least once in the preceding year & 36% had maade plans. 34% said they had made a suicide attempt & 19% reported being injured in a suicide attempt. Rates of suicidal thoughts & behaviours were higher among females than males, & for both genders, much higher than rates among youth still in school.
