Psychological Sequelae of HIV Infection and AIDS: Review of Empirical Findings

Reviews research covering 42 empirical studies that describe & explain the psychological sequelae of HIV infection. Methodological issues are discussed as well as the psychological dimensions of HIV & AIDS, including depression, suicide risk, anxiety, somatization, hypochondriasis, anger & guilt. Implications for psychological consultation, assessment & therapy for persons with HIV infection conclude the article. (64 refs)
