Pellegrino raises concerns about a study by Schneiderman et al (see SIEC #940947). Schneiderman & his colleagues tested the empirical validity of the assumption that the legalization of euthanasia & assisted suicide could influence terminally ill patients to request such measures in order to avoid being an economic or emotional burden to others. Pellegrino states that among other problems the questions posed by the researchers were not directly related to the assumption being tested.
