Psychosocial Correlates of Suicidal Ideation in Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatients

The Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation was administered to 121 adolescent inpatients diagnosed with mixed psychiatric disorders. 12 background & clinical characteristics were entered into a multiple regression to estimate the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation scores, with the Beck Anxiety Inventory, the revised Beck Depression Inventory, the Beck Hopelessness Scale, & the Youth Self Report. Only the hopelessness & depression scores contributed unique variance to the explanation of ideation scores.
